freenasAt our August SIG we’re going to look at FreeNAS  Network Attached Storage. Although not a true Linux system, FreeNAS BSD is a great UNIX-like open source product to reliably store tons of data. FreeNAS may be downloaded online as an image (not ISO) file. I’ll show you a cool Ubuntu open source utility that expands image files. Set up correctly FreeNAS retains data even when (not iknoppix-logof) one or two hard drive fail. We’ll go over the steep hardware requirements and begin seeing how FreeNAS might be used at home.
